I want to give you some incredibly important tools today. They will help you to do two critical things.

  1. Bring in revenue effectively and soon
  2. Find and nurture the most powerful relationships to power your business forward

First some terms and concepts and I want share.

Strategic Alliances and Partners

What are they?

These are the 10-20 people you know (or would like to know and can see how you might connect with) who could really make a quantum shift in your business if they were motivated to help you. They might be people with a large number of your perfect clients already on a list, or already as clients. They might be people who could open doors you need opened. They could be folks who are just incredibly well connected.

All businesses need strategic alliances. They are your potential Power Partners. It is important that you take the time to think of your “top 10” strategic alliances. Some businesses may have more, but try not to have less. You may not know them all today, but I am challenging you to come up with at least 10 within the next 2 months.

Why are they important?

A relationship with just a small number of these power partners can move you forward. In many businesses, this is the only marketing they need to do!

Nurturing your Strategic Alliances

Remember people always do business with people, not sales machines. So you want to nurture these relationships. How? Try these suggestions (note that none involve selling)

  • Look for win – win opportunities
  • Make friends
  • Comment on their blogs, distribute news of their events and accomplishments
  • Help them! It is a great way to get noticed.
  • If they are prominent, try using Google alerts to keep up with their successes and whereabouts.
  • Buy them lunch/coffee or breakfast

Hottest Prospects

What are they?

Your hottest prospects are the people who have indicated an interest in your business. They may be new opt-ins, recent referrals, strategy session participants or perhaps someone you have met that has indicated interest. You really want to collect their names and put special attention on them.

Why are they important?

There is a very high correlation between these people and the orders you will receive in the next 120 days.

Put Your Focus Where it Matters

I am sure you can see that both Strategic Alliances and Hottest Prospects are the key players that are most likely to bring in revenue fast, AND move your business forward the most. They are worthy of your extreme care and focus.  Where you put your attention – there you will find your results. So the spreadsheet attached is deceptively simple, yet incredibly powerful tool for helping you create strategic focus.

You will bring attention to your very best business opportunities each week. This might be one of the most important things you ever do.

The Strategic Focus spreadsheet will force you to focus on revenue opportunities in the next 120 days (your primary focus) as well as your longer term strategic opportunities.

  1. Fill out this spreadsheet. You may need additional time to refine your strategic alliances.
  2. Block time on your calendar to review this spreadsheet weekly. We suggest Fridays, so you start the next week with a bang.
  3. Put some thought into the next actions you should take with all hot prospects and those strategic alliances that make sense this week.
  4. Block time for these actions on your calendar also.
